Establishing Hong Kong’s Premier Applied Research & AI-Focused Tertiary Institution
In strategic alignment with the Hong Kong SAR Government’s blueprint to establish an international innovation and technology hub alongside an international tertiary education hub, the Open Innovation Foundation (OIF) has formally initiated the establishment of a new self-financing tertiary institution: the Hong Kong Institute of Innovation (HKII).
Positioned as an applied, research-driven institution, HKIIT departs from traditional ivory-tower pedagogy to champion a "lab-first, industry-integrated" paradigm. The institute initially focuses on world-class R&D laboratories and proof-of-concept (PoC) clusters across generative AI, embodied intelligence, next-generation computing architectures, and vertical domain models. In full compliance with the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap. 320), HKIIT is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of AI pioneers equipped with core algorithmic capabilities, robust systems engineering mastery, and global business acumen.

Benchmarked against the rigorous standards of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), the institute offers Bachelor of Science (Honours) programs in Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Algorithmic Governance, and Intelligent Software-Hardware Systems. Operating under a dual-mentorship framework, HKIIT embodies the philosophy: "The laboratory is the classroom, and real-world industrial challenges serve as the graduation thesis."
